52/52 - the final portraits

It's been one whole year of Project 52 and *almost* one whole year as a family of five. What an incredible year it has been. I am so thankful to have documented it in such a way, that we can look back on how we settled into life as five.

In the midst of all the events of late - Christmas and travel and so on - I felt compelled to post some simple portraits of my trio of little duckies.

Three in black and white, and three in living colour. Post-bath, where they are all actually squeaky clean at the same time ;)

I love this quirky three, crazy much.

I am not sure how long I will continue this Project and blog for. Lily is growing older, and outgrowing this space. The year ahead is a big one as she goes to school (more on that to come!) but I feel like its a transition I would like to record along the way. Plus, our transition to life at home with two little men while big sister is off at school!

And so, Project 366 and 52 are complete. Let's go for another round, shall we?!

Happy 2014 to you and yours :)

  1. Oh Kate, I ADORE this set. So natural, fun and like you say simple. Simple is always beautiful though. Love the light that is coming in from the left. You did a great job there!
Yikes it is going to be a big year for you, Lily and your family as a whole. I can't imagine you stopping this blog or your desire to capture all these wonderful family moments but I understand what you say about the transition. Maybe no set project, just a collection every now and then? or I like what Em at the Beetle shack does, a 'Weekly Stills collection' - just a collection of things (doesn't always have to be shots of the kids) that make up your week. Anyway what ever the case I am sure you will make it work for you and your family.
Well done on getting through another project, especially with THREE kids! It's such a beautiful document of your growing family. xx

    1. oh thank you amber! well i was actually inspired by the stunning portraits you often do. i often forget to just focus in on their expressive faces, and it just felt fitting for the end of year! as for the light, i was hoping for soft dusky light but it was a bit brighter than i thought so worked around it for a touch of flare ;) bit glarey but oh well. yes its a big year for us (bigger for your family though, i think!). i am thinking of doing Project 52 again for perhaps a final time. i feel like if i dont have that weekly routine i wont do it... actually yes i thought of doing Stills but then kinda like making sure i get a shot of each child each week... mmmm so many options!! i think i will probably continue the rhythm this year and then perhaps scale back in some ways. who knows?! I am still grieving that you are not blogging this year!!!! (though i understand). i have to admit im not feeling that energised for the project yet so am kinda feeling things out... but i am SO GLAD to have 2013's record!
